Publicity To Generate More Publicity

This is one area that is often neglected: few companies know that they can, and in fact should, capitalize on those moments when their company is enjoying media attention by putting out a press release announcing that fact!

Yes, you read that right. If your company appears in a story in a prestigious magazine such as Forbes, why not put out a press release letting your regular audience and the rest of the world know that you are featured in Forbes? It works and is great for building your presence in the media and your reputation in the marketplace—especially with investors.

It has been reported statistically that an astonishing 75% to 80% of all news is planted. In other words, most of the news you read in newspapers and magazines has come out of news releases sent to the media by businesses, associations, government organizations, and other organizations or individuals who are, like you, seeking exposure. I am telling you this to emphasize that your story has a good chance of being picked up as news if you follow the Rules.

Publicity begets more publicity. Once you get the ball rolling, it will often continue rolling by itself.
