Matech to Attend Premier Transportation Conference in D.C.
MATECH Corp. (OTC.BB:MTCH) is pleased to announce that it is participating in the Transportation Research Board (TRB) Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. from January 10 to 14, 2010. One focus of the annual meeting is evaluation of critical infrastructure.
The TRB Annual Meeting program covers all transportation modes, with more than 3,000 presentations in nearly 600 sessions addressing topics of interest to all attendees -- policy makers, administrators, practitioners, researchers, and representatives of government, industry, and academic institutions. The spotlight theme for 2010 is Investing in Our Transportation Future -- BOLD Ideas to Meet BIG Challenges.
MATECH's analysis on the use of their patented Electrochemical Fatigue Sensor (EFS) technology for accurate detection of growing fatigue cracks in steel bridges shows significant savings by making the right repairs at the right time, and by making sure those repairs are effective. The Federal Highway Administration has published data showing that visual inspections, the most common type in current use, lead to more than 90% of missed cracks, and find 80% cracking false positives. The EFS technology helps to eliminate these errors due to the subjectivity of the commonly used inspection methods.
"We are excited about this year's meeting," Robert Bernstein, Co-CEO, said. "The focus of this conference is about using the allocated funds in a smarter way, which highlights the real value of our EFS technology to bridge owners."
