New Improved Latex Addresses Skin Irritations

If you suffer from the classic symptoms of a “clothes allergy,” it could mean you are experiencing side effects caused by the natural rubber latex elastic threads that are woven within the clothing. For example, sock tops, children’s underwear, and even some bras can trigger skin irritations on a wearer’s legs, waist or back.  This is sometimes the case for people who are highly sensitive to latex, and who may experience severe skin irritations from the natural rubber latex elastic in these garments.  Itching, burning, dryness and skin discoloration or redness are among the symptoms of repeated exposure to the elastic threads from which the items are woven.

If you are unsure about whether you have a latex allergy, then it is wise to pay attention to the clothing you wear and the products you come into contact with.  Repeated exposure to products that contain natural rubber latex can result in significant discomfort if you are a latex allergy sufferer.

Many people with latex allergies have difficulty finding alternatives for clothes made with latex threads, but there is a forthcoming solution.  Vystar® Corporation created Vytex® Natural Rubber Latex (NRL)—a material that can and will be incorporated into elastic threads that are found in socks, underwear, and other types of clothing where latex threads are customarily used to keep the garment in place.

Vytex NRL is an eco-friendly material that significantly reduces the antigenic proteins found in natural rubber latex, a key element in the elastic found in sock tops and underwear.  Produced through a novel, patented process, Vytex NRL retains all the positive qualities of latex with virtually undetectable levels of the antigenic proteins that  are believed to cause latex allergies.  This development may help those who suffer from allergies caused by contact with natural rubber latex elastic threads.

“If you believe you suffer from a clothes related skin irritation, contact your physician or healthcare provider about your concerns and consider being tested for latex allergy,” advises Bill Doyle, President and CEO of Vystar Corporation.  “For more information on allergies, visit the American Academy of Asthma, Allergy and Immunology website.  For further information on Vytex NRL or to find products made with Vytex NRL, sign up for our newsletter at vytex.com.
